The internet has become a great challenge to copyright policies, and internet communities like these are a special factor in the discussion on them.
The SOPA/PIPA/ACTA matter has shown that the awareness of copyright policy in general is very high; artists on dA took a firm stand on copyrights/copylefts, dA itself allows direct access to Creative Commons licenses for every submission.
As a group on Linux, we should expect even higher awareness for licensing, for Linux is a "proof-of-concept" that even a complex project like an Operating System can be put into practice without restrictively copyrighted and closed source content.
Yet there are, as everywhere, some who seem to not know about or chose to ignore applicable law and recent jurisdiction, violating the rights of other artists:
